• How long is the program?

  The Student to Leadership Development Program requires a three-year commitment of its participants.

• How many participants are accepted into the program?

  Two participants and two alternates from each ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä affiliate and two participants and two alternates from the Military are accepted. It is at the sole discretion of ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä to accept or reject any submission. ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä’s decisions as to the administration and methodology of the Student to Leadership Development Program and the selection of its participants are final.

• Do I have to be a member of an affiliate?

  All applicants must be members of the ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä and an active ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä affiliate at the time of application and throughout their three years in the program. The only exception is for military applicants. See the application guidelines for details.

• Who is eligible to apply for the program?

  The program is open only to ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä student members aged 18 and older who are enrolled in an accredited, primary medical imaging or radiation therapy program at the time of application.

• Does ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä, or my affiliate, choose whether I am accepted into the program?

  It depends. Before applications open, affiliates notify ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä as to whether they are choosing their Student to Leadership Development Program applicants. If they are not, an ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä-appointed committee will choose. Applicants should contact their affiliate president for application and selection guidance, which may include additional criteria or require an earlier timeline. All applicants also must complete the ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä’s application process.

• What do I need to submit to apply?

  Applicants must submit an ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä application, a letter of recommendation, and an original essay; affiliates also may have submission criteria. Original essays become the property of the ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä and cannot be returned.

• What happens to my information once it is submitted?

  By submitting an application, applicants agree that they understand and will comply with the official rules and will consent to ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä’s use of their name, voice, likeness and biographical information for advertising, trade and promotional purposes without additional consent, approval, consideration, compensation, permission or notification. In exchange for acceptance as a Student to Leadership Development Program participant, recipients agree to assign to ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä all copyright, trademark and other intellectual property rights in their essay.

• Are any activities mandatory?

  All activities that constitute the three-year program are mandatory, including attending the ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting during the first year of participation. These activities are listed in the Student to Leadership Development Program Welcome Packet.

• Does the ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä pay for me to attend the Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting?

  ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä will pay for participants’ round-trip airfare based on ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä travel guidelines, stay at a hotel selected by ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä, meals provided as part of the program and a daily stipend at the current U.S. General Services Administration’s per diem rates. Travel arrangements must be made through ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä’s travel agency no later than 30 days before to the event. If the participant lives in the area in which the Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting is being held or elects not to take advantage of the airfare provided, ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä will not provide compensation or substitution in value. Eligibility is also dependent upon attendance of all required events and completion of the post-meeting survey.

• Is the stipend, or the travel expenses taxable?

  Participation in the Student to Leadership Development Program may constitute income under applicable federal, state and local tax laws and participants are solely responsible for payment of any and all taxes that may be due with respect to acceptance into the program.

• Is the ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä responsible for me during travel to and from, as well as during the House of Delegates meeting should something happen?

  No. Participants release ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä and its directors, officers, partners, employees and agents from any and all liability with respect to participation in the Student to Leadership Development Program and participation in, and travel to or from program activities.

• Does ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä reimburse Society membership fees?

  Participants’ ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä membership is paid for beginning one year from the expiration date of their current membership and each year throughout the program if they complete the assigned activities listed in the Welcome Packet. If participants prepaid for multiple-year membership, ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä will reimburse them one time per year during program participation if they complete the assigned activities listed in the Welcome Packet.

• Does ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä reimburse affiliate membership fees?

  Participants are reimbursed for one year at a time and only during each ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä fiscal year during their Student to Leadership Development Program participation. Participants must fill out a form and present it along with a receipt or their affiliate card to ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä. See the Welcome Packet for details.

• Can I still be in the program if I graduate from my medical imaging or radiation therapy program?

  Accepted participants are allowed to remain in the program, even if they graduated and become credentialed.

• What if I relocate during the program? Do I join a new affiliate?

  For continued participation, maintaining an affiliate membership and legal U.S. residency is required throughout the entirety of the three-year program. Even if you move during participation, you will represent the affiliate for which you were selected to represent during your attendance at the ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting. Following the first year of affiliate membership, you are welcome to renew with any active ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä affiliate of your choosing. However, ÁùºÏ²Ê¿â±¦µä will only reimburse one affiliate membership per year during active participation in the program.
